Testing

Tesla Walls conducts state of the art theoretical analysis and experimental tests/verification of its wall systems and components including but not limited to:

  • Air penetration of wall systems

  • Static and Dynamic Water penetration of wall systems

  • Thermal tests

  • Condensation tests

  • Live interstory movement tests followed by retesting of

  • Flame spread and propagation tests

  • UPITT Smoke tests

  • Aluminum Hardness

  • Paint thickness and weathering performance

  • Sealant adhesions tests

The above tests by a B-29 aircraft engine simulates high winds
ladden w/ rain. 77mph (123kph) or equivalent of 15 psf (720 Pa)

Thermal testing of wall cycles the temperatures from 180 deg F (82 deg C) to 0 def F (-18 deg C)
 for a week worth of thermal performance testing

Tesla Walls regularly engages independent engineering firms and testing laboratories to corroborate analyses conducted by in-house Tesla Walls engineering staff. Corroboration is both theoretical as well as experimental. Theoretical analyses and experimental testings are conducted by nationally recognized testing labs, top consultants, and ranked engineering firms.

Recent Test Results

The latest Curtain Wall and Window Wall products of Tesla Walls are ranked with the best performing Curtain Walls and Windows Walls in the USA/World. Achieving such high performance means the building owner can rest assured that the building envelope is secure now and many years in the future. Maintenance and repair issues can be avoided, and the owner gains added protection against any possible condominium or other litigation issues.

Tesla Walls completed testing of its latest curtain wall and window wall system are as follows. Passed 42 tests at Architectural Testing's (ATI) www.archtest.com facilities in York Pennsylvania. The observing consultant was the Gordon H. Smith Corporation.

Curtain Wall test highlights include:

  • PASSED Static Air 6.24 PSF (300 PA) infiltration and exfiltration for both the Wall system and the operable window. Multiple tests, Multiple passes.

  • PASSED Static Water Pressure 15 psf (720 PA) (USA standards usually 10 or 12 psf). PASSED in both the positive and negative directions. Multiple tests, Multiple passes.

  • PASSED Dynamic Water Pressure test from aircraft propeller at 77 MPH (123 KPH)

  • PASSED Interstory movement 3 full cycles each of vertical movements (+1" up, return, -1" down, return), (Left 0.75", return, right 0.75", return)

  • PASSED Thermal Cycling Tests. Condensation never occurred (pass criteria is 5% of surface. Tesla Walls achieved 0%)

  • PASSED Structural test at 60 PSF (2873 PA)

  • PASSED Structural overload test at 90 psf (4309 PA)

  • Note: All structural and structural overload tests were held at pressure for 60 seconds (USA standard is 10 seconds)

Window Wall test highlights include:

  • PASSED AAMA Certification of in swing casement. 3000 times cycle open and close and conduct Static Air, Static Water, Dynamic Water, Structural & Structural Overload tests). Achieved AW70 rating for the in-swing casement.

  • PASSED Child Lock Safety Test

  • PASSED Forced Entry Test

  • PASSED Window Washer Bolt drop test
